COVID-19 Information

On March 22, 2022, Senate Joint Resolution (SJR) 150 was approved by the Kentucky State Senate. SJR 150 terminated the declaration of emergency regarding the SARS-COV-2 virus in 2020 Executive Order 2020-215 and all subsequent actions directives based upon the declaration of emergency in 2020 Executive Order 2020-215.
 
The following activities are no longer allowed with the termination of the 2020 Executive Order 2020-215: 
1. Operate temporarily a pharmacy in an area not designated on the pharmacy permit if it is not safe or practicable to operate a pharmacy at the address listed on the permit. 
 
2. Dispense emergency refills of up to a 30 day supply of any non-scheduled medication for residents of any county of the Commonwealth.

With the end of the PHE, several authorizations expired including pharmacist authority to order vaccinations independently and the ability to immunize individuals down to age 3.


On May 12, 2023, HHS released the 11th Amendment to the Prep Act: https://www.federalregister.gov/d/2023-10216

This Amendment extends the authorization for pharmacists to order and for pharmacists, technicians and interns to administer the COVID-19 vaccine and seasonal flu vaccine down to age 3 if specific requirements are met.
